Last week I had the privilege to host a little contest to give away one free ticket to dataMinds Connect 2017, the biggest Microsoft Data Platform conference in the Benelux. There was a prize question you had to answer:
How many versions of SQL Server have I worked with?
The answer is: 7 different versions.
- SQL Server 2000 – just once in an intervention where a database had gone corrupt and there were no database backups. It didn’t go very well.
- SQL Server 2005 – the version I started working with
- SQL Server 2008
- SQL Server 2008R2 – yes, it’s a separate version
- SQL Server 2012
- SQL Server 2014
- SQL Server 2016
SQL Server 2017 hasn’t been released yet, so obviously it didn’t count. Three people had the correct answer:
- Olivier Van Steenlandt
- Joke Laukens
- Maarten Deleu
To determine the winner, let’s cast a dice. With T-SQL of course. Olivier gets 1 and 2, Joke 3 and 4, and Maarten 5 and 6.
The winner:
The result is 4, which means Joke wins the free ticket! Congrats! Thanks everyone for participating! I hope I see you all at dataMinds Connect!
