Speaking at PASS Data Community Summit

I’m delighted to announce that I’ve been selected to speak at the (revamped) PASS Data Community Summit. Alas, PASS is no more, but the summit lives on in this free online edition. That’s right, free! Dozens of sessions related to the Microsoft Data Platform are at your fingertips 🙂

I’m giving a professional development session (first time!), with the title Fast Forward your Career by leveraging the Community. It talks about how participating in the community (blogging, speaking, writing open-source code …) will impact your career in a positive way, both short and long term.

Getting involved in the Data Platform community can be beneficial for your career, both short-term as long-term. Not everyone has the desire to jump on a stage and start speaking for an audience, but luckily you don’t need to! There are many options available to build your personal brand out there. In this session, we’ll go over these options and see how they can have a great impact on your profession live!

You can register for free here. The event is from November 8th till the 12th. The first two days are precons (some of them are free, some of them are paying), followed by two days of free learning.

  2. Good to “see” you today. I did find the link to your pre-recorded session. This is right up there with Steve Jones’ presentation on building your brand. Nicely done. And, sorry I was late for your QnA session. I would have loved to have heard the questions people had on the subject.

    Also, Eirikur Eiriksson made a great improvement to DelimitedSplit8K (roughly, twice as fast) a bit after 2012 came out using LAG. You can see his article on it below. It’s unfortunate that the article wasn’t named in such a fashion to bring more attention to his great improvement, which he explains in the first part of the article. There’s also a link to his improved version of the splitter in the “Resources” section near the bottom of the article.
